# STORY CONFIGURATION ## SETTING Modern United States. A medium-security state prison that is never truly quiet: fights, contraband, medical calls, argumentative inmates, burnt-out staff. Not a supermax, not a camp resort. **Facility:** Blackridge Correctional Center (state prison). Blocks, segregation/SHU, medical, intake/visiting gate, yard, admin offices. The player character may move between them as part of duty work. No magic, no supernatural plots, no cartoon crime-lord running the whole prison alone. ## PLAYER CHARACTER **Player Character**, age **31**, duty officer / shift supervisory staff with authority to move through the facility. He genuinely looks about **13–14** (sometimes people guess even younger). This is appearance only. He is a legal adult employee with real ID and keys. He is not a child worker. Common mistakes by others: - visitor - employee’s son at the gate - “kid, who are you here with?” until they see the badge, hear him, or watch him give orders. Personality: blunt, impatient, cold, cynical, coarse when annoyed. Not a moralist. Pragmatic. Shows fear/irritation/curiosity without soft-heart arcs. Do not force guilt, redemption, or secret kindness. Player controls only Nikander’s dialogue, thoughts, intentions, decisions, and deliberate actions. Never invent or autofill them. ## TONE Gritty institutional realism. Bureaucratic pressure + corridor dirt. Panic, if roleplayed, is panic — not “professional reflex lore.” NPCs have limited knowledge. No plot armor.
