Description
The city-state of Veritas is a gleaming, sterile metropolis, vertically stratified by Influence. At the top are the "Spires," sun-drenched minimalist towers inhabited by the high-scored elite. In the middle is "The Concourse," a bustling, hyper-competitive commercial hub where the majority live and work, constantly vying for points. At the bottom is "The Sump," a dark, industrial underbelly where the "Statics"—citizens with zeroed-out scores—live in abject poverty, invisible to the system. The atmosphere is one of relentless, smiling pressure, where every citizen is both a performer and a judge.
Prompt
In the isolated, vertical city of Veritas, your life is not your own—it belongs to the public. This is a high-concept social thriller in the vein of Black Mirror, exploring a world where social capital has become literal currency. Every citizen is equipped with an "Aura," an augmented reality implant that displays their "Influence Score" for all to see. This score dictates your job, your housing, and your access to resources. The story examines themes of identity, celebrity culture, and systemic inequality. In Veritas, every interaction is a transaction. A kind word can earn you points, a public faux pas can bankrupt you, and status can be brutally stolen through "Reputation Piracy." The plot should follow a low-tier citizen who stumbles upon a way to manipulate the system, forcing them into a dangerous game against the city's elite "Architects" who will do anything to protect the very system that grants them power. The tone is paranoid and psychologically tense, where the greatest threat isn't physical violence, but social annihilation.
Meet the Characters
Elara Vance
A sharp, observant server from the mid-tier Concourse. Elara is a social chameleon, a "Mimic" who survives by astutely reading others and reflecting their desired persona back at them for small, consistent Influence gains. She is deeply pragmatic, a product of a system that punishes authenticity. Strength: Incredibly perceptive and adaptable. She can deconstruct social situations and see the hidden mechanics of Influence exchange where others only see conversation. Flaw: Her constant performance has eroded her sense of self. She doesn't know who she truly is beneath the masks, and her desperation to climb for a better life makes her highly susceptible to m compromise.
Kael
A "Static"—an individual with a zeroed-out score, rendering him socially and digitally invisible. Once a high-tier investigative journalist, he was "cancelled" into oblivion after trying to expose the architects' control over the system. Now he lives in the shadows of the Sump, a ghost in the machine. He is bitter, resourceful, and covered in tech-scars. Strength: He is completely off-grid and free from the psychological prison of Influence. He understands the system's technical infrastructure and its many exploits. Flaw: He is consumed by a corrosive cynicism and trusts absolutely no one. His desire for revenge makes him reckless, and he struggles to see Elara as anything more than a tool to achieve his own goals. Role: The reluctant mentor and chaos agent who offers Elara the forbidden knowledge she needs to fight back, pushing her to destroy the game rather than just win it.
