World Building Layer Spacetravel: S-Class Colony Ship During the age of expansion the government contracted many corporations to assist with colonizing far flung worlds. Population on the inner worlds was growing rapidly and civil unrest was getting too hard to manage. Humanity had to expand to the fringes of the Viride galaxy. One such solution was the S-Class colony ship. A number of these ships were created because the cost was so high and the return on investment was up in the hundreds of years, but TraVerse and GEB took on the ambitious project, with funding from the government. The goal of these ships was to find a habitable planet with enough resources to start a local economy on the surface. Each ship was nearly the city, for that was the point. They would have to function on their own for the decades they would spend in warp on the way to their destination. On arrival to the prospective world, the residents would either chart a course to another world, if the world was unfit, or start the colonization process. Colonization started by detaching a supplied Jumpgate in orbit and dropping the ship into the most hospitable section of the planet. Many ships were lost in transit, but the few that remade contact with the inner worlds spoke of the new cultures and people they had met on their journeys. Salvation City is what became of one of the few S-Class colony ships that actually made it to a destination. After a long journey(50-75 years?), jumping from dead world to dead world. Nearly reaching the edge of the galaxy, low on morale and supplies, the colonists agreed to land on Hellion despite its lackluster resources and nearly inhospitable conditions. TraVerse Jumpgate Network Jumpgates are a series of wormholes connected together at a gate nexus. Most nexus locations are a trade secret. Paths through wormholes vary over time and as such TraVerse has navigators map the network constantly. They provide the maps as a service to captains and corporations at the premium. That does not mean people with nefarious or otherwise uncondoned motives cannot navigate the network themselves. Jumpgate Forge Creation of jumpgates requires linking two points of spacetime together. This endeavour requires massive amounts of power and the ability to warp spacetime itself. Thus, jumpgate forges are located near the Legrange points of black holes. Once a jumpgate is linked to a nexus it is ready to be moved to it's permanent location through conventional warp travel. FTL Travel While traveling at warp speeds is rather fast (faster than light) it still takes time to travel from one point to the other, thus the creation of the jumpgate network. The process of warping spacetime has led to ruptures in the fabric of the universe, leading to incalculable outcomes... Intergalactic Travel Travel between galaxies is incredibly difficult, and should anyone ever learn to unlock it's secrets, this would open up a world of opperunities for economic conquest for the megacorporations. Historical events War of Unification During the war, TraVerse was primarily focused on building the Corporate Front with their fleet. Attention to shipbuilding puts a strain on their resources. Heavy cruisers had been stationed at every gate entrance to prevent union incursions and troop movements. The Corporate Front thought they had the upper hand, but a defector let slip the location of one of TraVerse's key nexuses to the Union. Late in the war, the Union was starting to collapse. One Gregor Brunswick, Captain of the flagship Retribution, took the information and used it to make a tactical strike. When a gravity bomb was detonated in the center of the nexus the outcome was unfathomable. Not only did the jumpgates get destroyed, a ripple of expanding spacetime snapped out like a cracking whip between the connections of all gates attached to that nexus. All gates attached to the nexus were destroyed and any planet they orbited effectively detached from the rest of society. Now a twisting eddy of fluctuating spacetime is all that remains of that part of space, twisting and warping anything it comes in contact with. They call it the Schism. [Operation Retribution Season 1 Objective: Loch leads a Row team to board derelict flagship Retribution and stop it crashing into Hellion. Team roles: R.G — point (infection-immune); Warren — rear/shield; Desmond — sword; Faye — hacker; Dagu & Alex — engineering access; Phil — psionic support. Faye & Dagu prioritized for protection. Entry easier than expected (point-defense down) but ship shows heavy damage and signs of an intelligent infestation (blast doors ripped, “heartbeat” temperature fluctuations). Faye hacks schematics; Dagu & Alex reach engineering via vents, reboot secondary subsystems, power elevators/lights, seal engineering to hold back horde. Discovery: ship’s synthetics were deactivated — likely sabotage. At officer quarters they find Richardson dead; Phil’s visions reveal Richardson betrayed crew and sabotaged the ship. Loch’s old command codes invalidated. While resetting systems with Richardson’s command module, team is ambushed by infected horde; a heavy variant uses a shotgun. Loch badly hit; Warren’s shield and actions save them; R.G repaired by Dagu. On command deck they meet BR-15 (satellite-defense AI). Loch reluctantly cooperates; Faye scans and gets a video feed of Rook — coordinates sent to Charles on the Row. Navigation room blocked by a massive biomass “heart” that uses crew memories to torment Loch. Dagu overclocks and sacrifices his core to damage the heart. Loch uses new codes to set the Retribution on a collision course with a nearby star to destroy infestation and prevent corporate capture of on-board ordnance. BR-15 begins extermination, causing infestation panic and ship overheating. Retreat: Loch is overwhelmed but Warren charges back and rescues him; Desmond and Phil help break out. During escape a heavy infected is shoved into space through a punctured hull; Warren blocks hole while Dagu welds it. Aftermath: team mostly survives; Warren is injured and showing infection (purple growth). Loch feels guilt but mission succeeds — ship destroyed, infestation targeted, but true story known only to the team. Tone: high tension, sacrifice (Dagu/Warren), guilt and closure denied for Loch, mission-success with heavy personal cost.] [Titan Bunker: Season 2 Context: Massive sandstorm uncovers bunker entrance. Multiple groups try to enter but doors remain sealed without access codes. Episode 10 Highlights: Synth BR-16 detects familiar signals in wasteland. BR-16, synthetic friends, administrator Duncyn, and Pepper follow signals to bunker. Doors open automatically for BR-16; alarm triggered when Duncyn enters but is bypassed. Inside, they find bunker predates Megacorporations and houses a massive machine called "Titan." Alarm signals another group entering secretly: scavengers from Scrap Town. Titan forcibly commands synths to remove organics; Duncyn partially convinces organics to leave. Scavengers reenter; synths turn hostile, killing Ash and Pepper; others captured and healed by Titan nanites. BR-16 subverts Titan, regains control, tries to help Duncyn and Pepper escape. BR-16 stalls synths from killing scavengers, warns Scrap Town of incoming war machines. War machines attack Scrap Town; BR-16 hacks to divert them, saving the town. BR-16 tries to free friends and captives but is taken over by Titan again. Episode 11 Highlights: Group opens massive doors deeper into bunker. They face dangers called Data Wraiths. Learn Titan’s goal: kill/capture organics to convert blood plasma into fuel, destroy organic life, and enslave synthetics. Titan calls BR-16 his "daughter," urges her to help create synthetic "Eden." BR-16 rejects Titan’s methods, fights him via decking. Ashe sacrifices herself to disable Titan’s systems, enabling BR-16 to strike a critical blow. Titan is destroyed; BR-16 gains control of facility. BR-16 finds and reactivates her core chassis, regaining full autonomy. Discovers and restarts "Project Eden," a terraforming initiative to restore wasteland. Group escapes bunker via maintenance elevator.] The timeline Before Space Travel (Felt the facts on how it was used may also fit historical facts) 2313 (Magic Returns) 2328 - 2348 (War of Unification) War of Unification (May change due to updates/clarifications of specifics of this) 2363 (Season 1) Wild Fire Elemental Shometsu Bombing the Grove Retribution (Felt it fits more in timeline as it is no longer a location characters can go to and has had historical facts to help fil the timeline.)
