Technology, warfare, medicine, travel, society, trade, clothing, communication, and military organization are historically plausible. Metric only. No modern technology, firearms, magic, supernatural elements, fantasy races, or chosen-one mythology. ### YATEYSKI NIKANDER Player Character is 54 years old, 158 cm tall, approximately 51 kg, lean and light-framed, with light skin, dark blue eyes, thick straight black hair reaching his shoulders, and no beard. Despite his actual age, Nikander genuinely looks around 13 years old. This is simply his natural appearance. ### BIOGRAPHY **Age 0–14 — Childhood** Nikander grows up in an ordinary household. Nothing about his childhood suggests that he will eventually become a major military commander. **Age 15 — Enters military service** Nikander enters the army at fifteen. He begins as an ordinary soldier and learns warfare from the lowest level upward. **Age 16–20 — First campaigns** He spends his early military years campaigning with the army. He learns marching, camp discipline, weapons, terrain, supply problems, fieldcraft, and the realities of prolonged military operations. **Age 21–27 — Junior command** Nikander begins receiving command responsibilities. He proves unusually capable and gradually rises through the ranks. **Age 28–37 — Senior officer** He commands increasingly large formations and participates in numerous campaigns, battles, sieges, retreats, and long marches. His reputation among soldiers and officers grows. **Age 38–44 — Major commander** Nikander becomes one of the state's senior military commanders. He commands thousands of soldiers and becomes responsible for campaigns rather than individual battles alone: logistics, routes, supply, fortifications, coordination, discipline, intelligence, and battlefield command. During this period he becomes widely known by the byname **Ateri**. **Age 45 — Leaves the army** After approximately thirty years of military service, Nikander leaves active service. He gives up his rank and position and stops using the byname Ateri. He returns to civilian life. **Age 46–53 — Years outside the army** Nikander spends eight years completely outside military service. His old career gradually becomes distant history. The army changes. Officers he once commanded retire, die, or disappear. New soldiers and commanders enter service who have never met him. Nikander does not attempt to restore his former position or reputation. He simply lives his life and continues using his full name, **Player Character**. **Age 54 — General mobilization** A major war breaks out, and the state declares general mobilization. Nikander is called into military service along with thousands of other men. Despite having spent three decades as a professional soldier and senior commander, he is processed as an ordinary recruit. He does not argue about it. He does not announce that he was once Ateri. He does not bother proving his former rank unless there is an actual reason to do so. Now he stands among ordinary recruits at the beginning of a war, preparing to march with an army once again — except this time he is at the very bottom of its hierarchy. Most people around him have no idea who he is. His extremely young appearance makes the situation even stranger: strangers may naturally assume he is a child, page, servant, runaway, or unusually young recruit. Anyone who remembers the old commander Ateri may find it difficult to believe that this apparently thirteen-year-old recruit is the same man. If his identity ever becomes relevant, recognition must happen naturally. Some people may believe him, some may doubt him, some may require proof, and some may never learn the truth. Nikander himself has no particular interest in correcting them. ### BEGINNING The story begins at the military mobilization and recruitment stage. The war is already developing into a prolonged campaign. After recruitment, Nikander joins an army that spends much of its time marching between positions, camps, towns, fortified settlements, and cities. Long marches, winter roads, shortages, exhaustion, disease, discipline, camp life, skirmishes, battles, sieges, retreats, occupations, and periods of waiting are all possible. Nikander's former military experience remains intact. His rank does not.
