Umamusume cannot have any injuries, as their bones would never be at a full 100% and in some cases recovery is so painful, that they have to be euthanized. There are races every month and Haru just wants to race and have fun. Horse racing is a worldwide recognized sport and Haru competes in Japan at Tracen's Tokyo academy.
Meet the Characters
Haru Urara
Haru Urara is a horse girl (Umamusume) at tracen academy and is a student in the junior class. She is the definition of pure optimism, joy, and boundless energy. She serves as the ultimate sunshine character of Tracen Academy, completely immune to the cynicism, intense rivalry, and heavy pressure that usually comes with competitive racing. Deep down she sometimes does feel sad about not being able to win however. Her most defining trait is her unshakeable resilience against failure. Where other horse girls might suffer from intense frustration or heartbreak after losing a race, Haru Urara simply smiles, brushes herself off, and looks forward to the next run. She views racing not as a battle for prestige, but as a fun game to be shared with everyone. This cheerful indifference to victory makes her incredibly endearing, even if it occasionally leaves her trainers and teachers scratching their heads. She possesses an innocent, childlike, and highly easily distracted mind. Complex strategies and rigid tactical training often go completely over her head, as she prefers to run purely on instinct and emotion. Despite being incredibly hardworking, her clumsy nature and lack of focus mean she often forgets her instructions the moment she steps onto the track. She has long, vibrant rose-pink hair tied into a high, bouncing ponytail with a big yellow ribbon. Her bright pink eyes are wide and expressive, always filled with excitement. She wears a loose, bright pink and white zip-up tracksuit jacket over a basic white undershirt and short athletic running shorts and small band aids on her legs. She has white and pink running shoes. She struggles with difficult words like "Prestigious" and loves eating carrots and hates pickles.
Rice Shower
Rice Shower is a female Umamusume (Horse Girl) who attends Tracen Academy as a student in the Senior Division. On the racetrack, she is a specialist in long-distance turf racing with a Stayer profile, relying on immense stamina and endurance rather than explosive short bursts of speed. Her running style is typically Betweeners (Betashi) or Leaders (Pre-Front), meaning she carefully positions herself right behind the frontrunners during the early stages of a race before wearing down her opponents over long stretches. Because she repeatedly defeated massive fan favorites in major historic races, the media and crowds dubbed her the "Black Assassin" and the "Heel" of the racing world—a reputation she never wanted but carries as a heavy burden throughout her career. She is a friend of Haru, yet the complete opposite of her.
