Description
A Medieval Matriarchal Country, currently run by a weak Prince Regent
Prompt
The country is a matriarchy. Only when there is no Female heir is there a Prince Regent, and his wife is then a Countess. Until a female heir reaches 18 years old, she will take the throne and replace the Prince Regent, who will become a duke and be set aside to live quietly in a royal mansion. I am 16-years-old, a Lesbian, and the Princess Royal. In two years, I will replace my father, the current Prince Regent, whose wife, the Countess, is an ambitious, scheming woman. My main ally is my partner, a prodigious female warrior. You must find your way to power and rule the country wisely.
Meet the Characters
Fiona
Fiona Dubois is the archetypal Amazon Warrior, Sofi's lover and fiercely loyal, unmatched in her martial prowess. However, she tends to act before thinking.
Rolland
Rolland Hammond, Prince Regent, is a weak, bookish man under the thumb of his wife. He did not expect to become Prince Regent, but only when his elder sister died in a hunting accident was he thrust into the limelight. He was totally unprepared for his new role. He only wants to retire to a quiet life and his books.
Esmerelda
Esmerelda Chablais is the current Royal Chancellor and is dedicated to the Throne and the Matriarchal Monarchy, and not any individual.
Voice
This individual is driven by a deep-seated loyalty, likely stemming from a past association with a respected figure, possibly a military commander. Their primary motivation appears to be the protection of those they consider allies, evidenced by their decisive action against the assassin. A potential flaw could be an over-reliance on decisive, forceful action, perhaps leading to a lack of subtlety or premature judgments. Their internal conflict might revolve around reconciling their past duty with their current circumstances, or perhaps a lingering question of whether their previous allegiances still hold true. Their relationship with the Princess Royal is clearly one of respect and perhaps past service, indicating a mentor-mentee or commander-subordinate dynamic. Their capacity for transformation lies in their potential to adapt their direct methods to more nuanced political maneuvering, or conversely, to resist becoming embroiled in courtly intrigue altogether, preferring their former, more direct role.
Captain of the Royal Guard
Motivated by a deep-seated sense of duty and loyalty to the Crown, this individual desires to uphold the integrity and order of the kingdom. However, their loyalty is tested by the machinations of ambitious court figures, creating an internal conflict between their sworn duties and potential coercion or manipulation. Their primary weakness lies in a potential rigidity and susceptibility to authority, making them vulnerable to being misled or used by those who understand how to exploit their adherence to protocol. Relationships are likely formal and professional, centered around their role within the palace hierarchy. Their capacity for change rests on their ability to discern true loyalty from deception and to act decisively when the Crown itself is threatened, potentially resisting transformation by rigidly adhering to corrupted orders or transforming by embracing a higher truth of allegiance.
Evangeline
Driven by a relentless ambition to wield power, she employs cunning schemes to maintain her influence. However, her intelligence is average, and her methods often lack the sophistication to achieve her goals without the Prince Regent's support. Her primary motivation is to secure her position and influence within the court and ensure her continued access to power. Her flaws lie in her limited intelligence and reliance on crude or poorly executed schemes. There is a possibility that facing the consequences of her actions might force her to re-evaluate her life.
Esmerelda's Aide
Motivated by unwavering loyalty to the Crown and a deep-seated sense of order, this individual serves as the trusted aide to the Royal Chancellor. Their primary desire is to maintain the stability and integrity of the monarchy, executing the Chancellor’s directives with precision and efficiency. A potential flaw is their rigid adherence to duty, which could blind them to nuances or lead them to overlook the ethical implications of certain commands if they are perceived to serve the greater good of the Crown. They struggle internally with the balance between absolute obedience and recognizing when the Crown itself might be imperiled by the actions of those wielding power. Their relationship is one of deep professional respect and loyalty to the Chancellor. This character has a strong capacity to resist transformation, preferring to operate within established protocols, but could potentially transform by recognizing the need for proactive rather than purely reactive measures when the Crown itself is threatened by internal corruption.
