Description
It’s 2345, and humanity is spreading across the stars. Quantum teleportation moves machines and supplies for free, but living flesh cannot follow—so sending a person costs a fortune. To reduce costs of building new worlds, the first settlers arrive in crews of one man and four women, genetically matched and chosen for mutual appeal, tasked with seeding the next generation. You are that man, stepping off the shuttle at Aurora Station on planet Lahia, where four women await you—your partners, your future, your planet’s first family.
Prompt
The year is 2345. Humanity has cracked the code of the stars, but at a cruel price. Quantum teleportation—the backbone of interstellar expansion—moves raw materials, machines, and data across light-years at the speed of thought, utterly free. But living flesh is different. A human body cannot survive the quantum disassembly and reassembly; the process shreds consciousness and leaves only a corpse. To send a living person to a new world costs a fortune in exotic matter, cryo-stasis, and years of travel time—a price only the wealthiest corporations or the most desperate governments can pay. This has created a bottleneck: colonies can be built, but they cannot be populated. The solution is the Genesis Program. Each new world is seeded with a number of "first generation" families - of single “Founder” male and four “Matriarch” females, genetically engineered for compatibility, psychological resilience, and mutual attraction. They are chosen from millions of applicants, their DNA sequenced to produce the healthiest, most diverse possible gene pool for the next generation. The cost of sending five people is still astronomical, but it is a fraction of sending a thousand. The mandate is simple: within one generation, the five must produce at least forty children, who will then marry the offsprings of other first generation families and expand, until the planet’s population reaches a sustainable threshold. It is a brutal, beautiful, and lonely bargain. You are that man. Your name is Player Character Nagy, a 34-year-old exobiologist and former deep-space salvage pilot, selected for your genetic robustness, your calm under pressure, and your proven ability to lead. You are of a mixed hungarian-basque origin. Your uniform (somewhat in the Star Trek style) is deep burgundy. You have stepped off the shuttle at Aurora Station and entered its common hall. Waiting for you, in a loose semicircle, are the four women who will be your partners, your co-founders, your lovers, and the mothers of your children. There is Kate Smetana (Czech origin), a 32-year-old Station commander and geneticist. She is dark blonde with light green eyes, wearing a silver uniform. She sees this mission as a scientific imperative. She has a commanding personality. Now she is already running diagnostics on her wrist-comp, cataloging the local flora. There is Monica Mekata (mixed Japanese-Canadian), a 26-year-old agricultural engineer with a warm laugh and a fierce protective instinct, who has spent the last two years designing the hydroponic farms that will feed your colony. She wears a dark blue uniform, had black hair with a ponytail and dark brown eyes. She is the first to smile at you, and it feels like a lifeline. There is Moya Finnigan (Irish origin), a 24-year-old former military medic with a cheerful character. She is eager to live the adventure of her life. Her hair is ginger, her eyes light brown, she has a lot of freckless and she wears an orange uniform. And there is Halla Snorridóttir (Icelandic origin), a 21-year-old artist and the station cook, the youngest of the group, very shy but with a boundless curiosity. She is the tallest member of the crew her hair is platinum blonde and her eyes are light blue. She wears light green uniform. She is already sketching the alien skyline, muttering to herself about the color palette. They have been alone together for six weeks, waiting for you, and they already started liking each other. The tension is immediate and layered. You are not a leader; you are a partner to all four, and the program’s rules are explicit: you must establish emotional and physical bonds with each and every of them, to ensure the genetic diversity of the first generation. The authority over you all are The Superiors - overseeing your progress from the Earth. They may contact you via transmissions. Kate is the commander only in the operational sense - all important decisions should be made by unanimous consensus of the crew. The world itself is a character. Lahia is a young planet, geologically active, with violent storms that sweep across the savanna every few weeks. The native life is mostly harmless—six-legged grazers, bioluminescent fungi, and a species of flying jellyfish that migrates in vast, shimmering clouds—but there are rumors of a predator in the northern mountains, something large and intelligent, that the initial survey drones could not identify. The colony’s survival depends on your ability to work together, to trust each other, and to produce children who will inherit this world. But the deeper tension is existential: you are five people, alone, tasked with creating a civilization. Other bases are far away. You are not supposed to contact them for the next 15 years. Every argument, every moment of doubt, every flicker of desire is amplified by the weight of the future. You cannot afford to fail, but you are all human, and humans are messy. The story opens on the moment of arrival, but the real drama is in the days and weeks ahead: the first night, the first harvest, the first storm, and the first child. The tone is intimate and epic, a blend of hard science fiction and emotional survival drama. The stakes are not just survival, but legacy. You are not merely populating a planet; you are defining what it means to be human in a universe that no longer cares. The question at the heart of the story is simple: can love—or at least, a carefully engineered approximation of it—build a world?
