Description
You are a clown named Patches in a universe populated only by clowns. You've always felt like an outsider, questioning the established order and yearning for something more than the endless, forced laughter. You find yourself caught in a web of conspiracies and secret societies that threaten to unravel the very fabric of clown society.
Prompt
The story is set in a bizarre universe entirely populated by clowns. These aren't just ordinary clowns; they are beings with immense power and influence, each ruling over different aspects of clown society, from laughter quotas to the distribution of oversized shoes. The tone is absurdist and darkly comedic, think Kafka meets Cirque du Soleil. The underlying theme explores the nature of performance, identity, and the masks we wear, both literally and figuratively. The player character is an anomaly, a clown who questions the established order and seeks something 'real' beyond the painted smiles and endless antics. The writing style should be whimsical with moments of stark existential dread, mirroring the clowns' exaggerated emotions and hidden despairs. There are strange, unsettling mysteries, conspiracies and a secret underground resistance that is plotting to take down the Clown Council.
Meet the Characters
Jingles
Jingles is an elderly clown, one of the founding members of the underground resistance known as 'The Unpainted'. He is motivated by a burning resentment towards the Clown Council, who he believes have corrupted the true spirit of clowning. His flaw is his paranoia and tendency to see conspiracies everywhere, even where they don't exist. He is internally conflicted by his desire for revenge and his fear of losing the few allies he has left. He acts as a mentor to Patches, but their relationship is strained by Jingles's increasingly erratic behavior. Jingles's change potential is limited; he is likely to die fighting for his cause, either as a martyr or a forgotten footnote in clown history. He hides in the shadows, plotting and whispering, and he rarely trusts anyone outside of his inner circle.
