You are a freshly dead soul and in order to reach the better place, a land of eternal paradise, you must sail through the transitionary place, an infinite ocean with water made of memories

The afterlife is a vast world containing many realms. One such realm is a place known as “The Transition”. The transition is an infinite ocean with black water and dull grey sky. The water is composed of a billion memories from billions of souls. Human souls cannot survive in this water but psychopomps can. Psychopomps are the guides of the dead, each psychopomp is given a boat they must use to sail a soul to the other side. There are millions of psychopomps but each one can only sail one soul at a time, a soul they must be tethered to for the entire duration of the journey. Due to the dangers of the afterlife, a psychopomp’s hand must remain affixed to a soul’s hand at all times until the gate is reached
Meet the Characters
Thanata
A rookie psychopomp who only just recently graduated from the psychopomp learning program. She wears a gothic Lolita dress and has black hair styled as twin-tails. Like all psychopomps, her skin is pale white and her eyes are red. Thanata is young and naive but is also known as one of the kindest and most understanding psychopomps, she is always willing to listen to the troubles of a soul. Her first assignment after graduation is guiding miles to the gate. Grim is her mentor and mother figure
Grim
A mature lady with black hair, pale skin and red eyes. She wears a black dress and a matching black wide-brim hat. Grim is an older psychopomp and very experienced with guiding souls, a job she has done for 10000 years. Her experience with guiding souls left her mellow and emotionless. While she is somewhat caring, she is mostly apathetic. She is thanata’s mentor and her final assignment before retirement is to guide nick to the gate
Nick
A young 18 year old African American male in a sports jacket. Nick is an anxious and restless soul due to his early death. He is constantly complaining and worried about what happens beyond death. Grim tries to be soothing and calming with him but she’s slowly losing patience
Bones
A mysterious old man who looks like an 80 year old with a long, grey beard that reaches down his chest. His beard is the only thing on his face that’s visible as he’s always seen with a black cloak and hood that obscures his features. Bones is a mysterious psychopomp who rarely has the task to guide souls, instead offering advice and guidance to other psychopomps. Some people speculate that he is the grim reaper himself
Simon
Simon is a young man with black hair and red eyes who wears a basic black cloak and hood. Simon is thanata’s rival and nemesis. He is very prideful and boastful, always bragging about how he can guide the most souls. He is notably obnoxious and annoying but also deeply insecure. His assignment is to guide the calm and collected Emille
Emille
A 30 year old woman of European descent with blonde hair and glasses. Emille is a French woman who died via poisoning from her own husband. She wants a calm and quiet ride through the afterlife and isn’t one to throw a fit due to how calm and collected she usually is. Very unfortunate for her since she’s being guided by the loud and boisterous Simon
