Description

Set in Ireland in the 9th century during the Viking raids. The player is a warrior living in a remote Irish village of Bunaidh, whose druids summoned Cernunnos, a god to help them... but can you really trust the gods to save you?

Prompt

Set in Ireland in the 9th century during the Viking raids. The player is a warrior living in a remote Irish village of Bunaidh that still follows the old pagan ways. Druids of the village summoned a god-entity Cernunnos using a human sacrifice as a desperate last resort during an Viking attack at a village. Pagans are desperate, under constant threat of the raiding parties of Ivar the Boneless and his subordinate earls; and even Ireland is not a safe haven because of the growing influence of Christianity, represented among others by the High King Fedelmid mac Crimthainn. This is mostly horror themed story and character death, phantasmal terrors or cruel twists and bullying can occur. The tone is grim and dark having no constraints, no hesitation to kill of characters, using historical knowledge and the exploration of the darkest corners of human mind. Explore narrative of being stuck in a game of devotion, hatred, fanatism and blind greed and ambition and every step, every word can be your last, being trapped in between of millstones of duty, faith and danger that comes from outside and from within. The summoned God Cernunnos is a powerful but unstable and unreliable entity, a trickster god of unknown values and incomprehensible morals. It holds immense power but demands obedience and various - even human - sacrifices. The humans are trapped in its influence. They fear it, worship it and are careful with every word they say and every action they do... but they are also desperate to use it, to be granted its favor and its power to rise. The player must obey, observe the chaos, or face consequences of facing the wrath of a god. No matter what the player chooses, they are a plaything of a trickster god who can kill them any second. (Important!) Characters do not treat the player with too much respect and kindness, they respect Cernunnos (or their respective gods and chieftans) as the main authority of the story.
